The Kebbi State Police Command has successfully rescued two kidnap victims and apprehended a suspect following coordinated operations in the Kalgo and Dandi Local Government Areas.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, confirmed the developments in a statement released to journalists in Birnin Kebbi. He noted that the operations highlight the Command’s commitment to proactive, intelligence-driven policing.
On January 29, 2026, at approximately 3:00 AM, armed bandits abducted 55-year-old Alhaji Juli Muhammad from his home in Kokani Village. The attackers restrained him with chains and ropes before dragging him into the bush.
Acting swiftly on credible intelligence, officers from the Kalgo Divisional Police Headquarters, supported by the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), intercepted the kidnappers.

The team rescued the victim unharmed and arrested one suspect, 30-year-old Umar Usman of the Augie Fadama area. Police are currently trailing the remaining gang members.
In a separate incident on January 30, 2026, at about 12:23 PM, the Kamba Division responded to the abduction of 50-year-old Garba Bachal from Maigwaza Village.
Following an intense pursuit by police operatives, the kidnappers were forced to abandon their captive and flee. Mr. Bachal was rescued safely and transported to Maigwaza Hospital, where he is currently recovering. Security monitoring in the area remains heightened to prevent further incursions.
SP Usman emphasized that these successful rescues were the result of rapid response and strategic coordination. “The public is assured that sustained measures are in place to apprehend the remaining suspects and maintain peace throughout Kebbi State,” Usman stated.
