The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed the neutralisation of a kidnap gang leader, identified as Jiji Mujugu, in Bagudo Local Government Area of the state, and the arrest of one of his key members.
Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Bashir Usman, confirmed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi.
According to him, “The Kebbi State Police Command has recorded another operational success against criminal elements following credible information from a member of the public.
“Operatives, in collaboration with joint security personnel, arrested Bube Tukur, male, of Yarma Village, Suru LGA, resident of Kasuwar Daji, Bagudo – a member of a kidnapping gang responsible for the abduction of Alhaji Abu Geza of Geza Village, Bagudo LGA.

“Investigation revealed that the suspect belongs to a gang of eight members, including Jiji Mujugu, the alleged gang leader. One locally fabricated pistol and one live cartridge were recovered from the suspect. The victim, Alhaji Abu Geza, was subsequently rescued unharmed.
“The suspect led operatives to the gang leader’s hideout, where Jiji Mujugu opened fire and attempted to escape. Operatives returned fire, neutralising him. One locally fabricated pistol was recovered from him,” Usman said.
Usman said the gang had been terrorising communities including Geza, Adawa, Matsinkai, Sharabi, Illela, Suru, Dakin Gari, Bagudo, and surrounding areas. Efforts to arrest other fleeing members are ongoing.
He added that the Commissioner of Police commended the public for their cooperation and urged residents to continue providing timely information.
