The Kebbi State Police Command has neutralised one suspected Lakurawa bandit in Malan-Yaro village, Dandi Local Government Area, and recovered two motorcycles.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the development in a statement to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi.
According to Abubakar, “on 25 November 2025, at about 05:26hrs, armed men suspected to be Lakurawa bandits stormed Malan-Yaro village, Dandi LGA. Upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer, Kamba, swiftly mobilised a combined team of policemen and vigilantes to the scene, pursued, and engaged the bandits in a fierce gun duel for hours.
“During the operation, one bandit was neutralised, while others escaped into the forest with suspected fatal gunshot wounds. Two motorcycles belonging to the bandits were recovered, and the body was taken to the general hospital, Kamba, for autopsy.”

A combined team of additional police, military, and vigilantes has been deployed in the affected area to curb Lakurawa activity and violent crimes, as well as prevent reprisal attacks.
CP Bello M Sani, Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, commended the DPO Kamba and all agencies involved for their gallantry and professionalism, urging them to sustain the synergy.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Birnin Kebbi, for further investigation to unravel the group’s modus operandi and prevent future occurrences.
