Kebbi police neutralise 4 kidnappers, arrest 1, recover N3m in Suru LGA

The Kebbi State Police Command has killed four kidnappers, arrested one and recovered the sum of N3 million from them in Gobiraje village in Suru Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO)  of the command, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi.

According to him, “on the 14th February, 2025 at about 13:45hrs, armed men suspected to be kidnappers invaded Gobiraje village in Suru LGA of Kebbi State, and kidnapped one Umaru Bawa ‘m’ aged 60 yrs.

“On receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer, Suru, aggressively mobilised a team of policemen and vigilantes to the scene, trailed the suspects to Tundafari forest in Dakingari axis and engaged them into a gun duel.

“Consequently, four of the kidnappers were neutralised, one arrested with fatal injuries while others escaped into the forest with gunshot wounds.

“Similarly, the police successfully rescued the kidnapped victim unhurt and recovered the sum of N3m already paid to the kidnappers as ransom.”
