Kebbi police nab three suspected kidnappers, recover weapons

The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three suspected kidnappers, who were linked to series of kidnappings in Shanga Local Government Area of the state, and recovered locally made weapons from them.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, SP Bashir Usman, confirmed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi.

According to him: “Detectives of the Kebbi State Police Command acting on credible information about a suspicious individual at Bagudo Market, led to the arrest of three suspects – Abubakar Muhammadu, Abdullahi Majo and Ali Alhaji Jemu, and the recovery of two locally made firearms, a cartridge and three machetes.

“The suspects have been linked to a previous kidnapping incident in Bani Koso Village, Shanga Local Government Area, where a 55-year-old man was abducted from his residence.

“The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Birnin Kebbi, under the directive of Commissioner of Police, Umar Mohammed Hadejia, and the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation.

Usman added that the Commissioner of Police has urged the members of the public to report suspicious activities or provide tips to the Kebbi State Police Command Control Room on: 08038797644 or 09015888578 for immediate actions.
