The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed the murder of one Sufiyanu Garba, a 35-year-old man, and the abduction of his wife in the Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi, the state capital.
It was gathered that the deceased was allegedly killed in his house in Badariya in the early hours of Friday by unknown gunmen, while his wife was abducted to an unknown destination.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, SP Bashir Usman, who confirmed the incident in a statement titled “Police commence investigation into fatal incident at Badariya”, which was made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, said the police had commenced an investigation into the incident.
According to him, “The Kebbi State Police Command expresses concern over an unfortunate incident that occurred in the early hours of today, 13th March 2026, in the Badariya Area, Birnin Kebbi, which resulted in the death of Sufiyanu Garba, aged 35, and the abduction of his wife.

“Detectives promptly visited the scene and commenced necessary investigations. It was observed that a police checkpoint is situated not far away from the scene of the incident, which could have been informed for rapid response.
“The victim was taken to Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor. His remains have since been deposited at the hospital morgue.
“The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to take over the case and ensure a thorough and diligent investigation aimed at rescuing the abducted victim and bringing those responsible to justice.
“The command also reassures residents that necessary steps are being taken to further strengthen the security architecture across the state.
“Members of the public are enjoined to always report promptly to the police any emergency situation for rapid response, as timely information is crucial to averting incidents of this nature.”
