The Kebbi State Police Command has rescued six kidnapped victims from the bandits who invaded Tungar Wazga and Unguwar Chiroma villages in Danko-Wasagu local government area of the state from Zamfara State.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi.
According to him, “the Kebbi State Police Command has recorded another significant breakthrough in its ongoing onslaught against banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state.
“On the 2nd November, 2025 at about 1600hrs, a gang of unidentified armed bandits with dangerous weapons numbering about twelve have invaded Ukuhu, Tungar Wazga and Unguwar Chiroma villages in Danko/Wasagu LGA of Kebbi State, and kidnapped ten people.
“Following a credible lead, the Divisional Police Officer, Danko, swiftly mobilised a combined team of Policemen and local vigilantes, pursued the hoodlums, blocked them at Marina village bordering Zamfara State and engaged them in a fierce gun duel. The aggressive confrontation made the armed bandits abandon some of their victims and flee into Zamfara forest with possible gunshot injuries.

“While the operation was ongoing, the following victims namely Abubakar B. Abubakar age 25yrs, Nasiru Magawata age 18yrs, Abdul Magawata age 15yrs, Buhari Ukuhu age 17yrs, Kamalu Magawata age 12yrs, Naziru Magawata age 11yrs, all ‘m’ of the above mentioned villages were successfully rescued unhurt and have been reunited with their families after medical examination.”
Abubakar explained that search and rescue operation are still ongoing to rescue the remaining four kidnapped victims and ensure the possible apprehension of the fleeing culprits.
“While commending the successful operation, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M Sani applauded the DPO Danko and his team for swift response to distress call, professionalism and bravery.
“He emphasised that the Command remains steadfast in its unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property of the good people of Kebbi State”.
