From Ola Muhammad, Birnin Kebbi
Kebbi State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Bala Dabo Kagarko, has charged personnel of the scheme to improve service delivery by responding promptly to complaints from corps members, parents, employers and other members of the public.
Kagarko gave the charge during the 2026 Customer Service Week celebration in Birnin Kebbi, themed “Going the Extra Mile,” stressing that excellent service delivery required commitment, courtesy, responsiveness and professionalism.
“Going extra mile means going beyond our job specifications in treating our clients with respect, responding promptly to enquiries, providing accurate information and making deliberate efforts to resolve complaints.”
He maintained that customer service was not the responsibility of the SERVICOM Desk alone but a collective obligation of every staff member, irrespective of rank or department.
Kagarko urged personnel to eliminate unnecessary delays, improve communication and treat everyone seeking assistance with dignity and respect.
He commended the SERVICOM Desk Officer and Corps SERVICOM Vanguards for promoting service standards, urging them to sustain their efforts.
The coordinator said the true measure of the scheme’s success was not merely the services it provided but how effectively and responsibly they were delivered.
Five frontline staff members received commendation plaques for their performance.
Guest speaker Musa Owuna, who delivered a lecture on customer service awareness and performance, urged personnel to be mindful of their conduct, communication and attitude towards members of the public.
