The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kebbi State Counci, has commended youths in the state for their peaceful march and conduct in demanding for proactive measures against insecurity in the north, in particular, and country at large.
The state Chairman of the council, Alhaji Aliyu Jajirma, stated this in a statement signed  and made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi .
Jajirma said that the youths should be commended for their responsible disposition and peacefulness in this trying moment of violence and destruction of public and private property in some parts of the country.
According to him, “these days, the youths in Kebbi State marched peacefully in demanding for more proactive measures to contain killings by armed bandits in the north and the need to reform and strengthen the policing system in the country.
“This peaceful act was demonstrated by the youths at the same time while their counterparts in other states embarked on violence, looting and wanton destruction of both public and private property, posing a threat to our collective quest for a better country,” he said.
Jajirma attributed that the conduct of the youths was not unconnected with the leadership style of Gov. Atiku Bagudu, who passionately pursued human capital development.
“This is addition to the skills acquisition, empowerment in all the Agricultural value chains, sports development and other far reaching interventions.
“It was, therefore, not a surprise for Kebbi youths with enhanced intellectual capacity, investments on Rice farming and other value chains, interest in sports with a multi- million dollars FIFA stadium.
“There is also speed at which medium and small scale businesses are springing up in the nook and cranny of the state, to be too busy for acts of hooliganism and destruction.
“The state government has remained consistent in leveraging on various federal government’s packages and partnership with willing partners to better the lots of it’s citizens.
“This is in addition to immediate dispatch of all packages due for the people without hesitation, a posture that greatly enhanced the existing peace in the state,” Jajirma said.
The chairman, however, commended the youths for the maturity, while lauding the state government for the positive posture, and urged them to maintain the tempo.
