The Kebbi State chapter of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has requested the state government to start verification of 2019 pensioners to enable them enjoying their benefits ahead of fasting period.

 

State Chairman of the NLC,Comrade Murtala Usman stated this while speaking with newsmen in Birnin Kebbi.

It could be recall that the NLC across the country had staged a peaceful one day protest and cancel the 2nd day after their NEC meeting, thereby given Federal Government seven days to address the plights of Nigerians.

While speaking with newsmen about NLC updates,Kebbi State Chairman,Comrade Usman noted that the issues of Parliamentary staff autonomy, allowances are still unresolved which the Congress want the governments to redress.

 

According to him, “as you are aware,base on the success of the yesterday’s protest and presentation of our communique to Kebbi State Government under the leadership of Comrade (Dr) Nasir Idris who was represented his Deputy Governor Senator Umar Abubakar who received the NLC Kebbi State council in his office,where we presented our communique that contains our demands to him.

“Just as we stated yesterday,we are still requesting the state government to hasten the verification of 2019 pensioners to enable them to enjoy this coming Ramadan fasting.

 

“We are also demanding the immediate implementation of Parliamentary Staff autonomy and their allowances without further delay. Again,we are urging the State Government to implement the promotion and advancement of newly qualified health workers which was approved by the State Governor “.

 

Usman who commended the state government for attended to some of their demands,said there was need for the state to create State transport system to ease the hardship the workers and people are facing everyday in course of seeking for their daily meals.

 

He however thanked the Nigeria’s Police,DSS, Nigerian Army and NSCDC among others for provided maximum security for the members of NLC during their protest.
