The Kebbi State Hisbah Board and youths of Bubuche community in Augie Local Government Area have resolved their dispute over alleged excessive interference by Hisbah personnel in the community’s activities.

The youths had reportedly expressed concerns over the activities of the agency, whose responsibilities include promoting moral values and curbing social vices among Muslim communities.

The Director of Shari’a Education and Implementation of the agency, Malam Surajo Usman Kamba, disclosed the resolution in a statement made available to journalists in Birnin Kebbi.

According to him, “the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Religious Affairs, Kebbi State, Arch. Muhammad Sani Aliyu Zuru, represented by the Director, Shari’a Education and Implementation, Mal. Surajo Usman Kamba, alongside the Executive Chairman, relevant government officials, community leaders and other stakeholders, successfully resolved the dispute between members of the Kebbi State Hisbah Board and youths of Bubuche Community, Augie Local Government Area, which occurred on 28th September, 2026.”

He said the youths expressed concerns regarding what they perceived as excessive interference by Hisbah personnel in some of their activities. “However, after a detailed discussion and clarification by the Hisbah officials and other stakeholders, the youths acknowledged that the disagreement was largely due to a misunderstanding of the mandate, responsibilities and objectives of the Hisbah Board,” he said.

Kamba added that the youths subsequently accepted the lawful responsibilities of the Hisbah system and agreed to cooperate with Hisbah personnel in maintaining peace, morality and social order within the community.

He said the Chairman of Augie LGA and other stakeholders also reaffirmed their support for the activities and mandate of the Hisbah Board.

He quoted them as saying that the initiative of Governor Nasir Idris, aimed at promoting moral values and protecting residents from harmful social vices, “is a commendable effort which deserves the support and cooperation of all well-meaning citizens of the state.”

The Divisional Police Officer in the area, Malam Labbo Auwal, expressed satisfaction with the understanding reached and pledged to help sustain the peace.

Kamba said the DPO accompanied representatives of the youths and Hisbah officials to meet with the Kebbi State Commissioner of Police to formally affirm the resolution.

He thanked Almighty Allah for the peaceful resolution and prayed for continued peace, unity and cooperation among the people of Kebbi State and Nigeria.t
