The Permanent Secretary, Sokoto State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Schools Education as well as Director of Exams have tendered documents to proof attendance of the Kebbi State Deputy Governor, Senator Abubakar Umar in the mock examination of the Sultan Abubakar Teacher College.
After the tendering the documents, second subpeoned witness, Abdulrahaman Jafar Lawal was Cross examined by 1st, 2nd and 4th Respondents counsels as well as the counsel to the petitioners, led by Ibrahim K. Bawa SAN.
The Permanent Secretary of the Sokoto State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Schools Education was represented by Director Exams, Mustapha Idris Musa,who informed the Tribunal that he was before the Panels on behalf of his Permanent Secretary via tribunal subpoena.
Musa further stated that the Court’s subpoena they received ordering them to produce a broad sheet used for the mock examination of 1979 of their College among other documents.
The Tribunal Chairman, Justice Ofem O. Ofem after admitting documents tendered,and evidence of the subpoened witnesses, adjourned the hearing to Thursday for continuation.
While speaking with newsmen, Counsel to the 3rd Respondents,Kehinde K. Elijah(SAN),said the subpoened witnesses documents tendered have showed that testimonial issued to the Deputy Governor and Mocks Result were properly issued.
“What transpired today in the Court is the continuation of the defending the 3rd Respondents, that is the Deputy Governor of Kebbi State. And off course, one of the witness was cross examined, the representatives of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Schools Education, Sokoto who tender documents without testifying ,especially on a report in verification of certain documents.
“Thereafter,we call also on an officer, Acting Director,who at some point was a Sole Administrator/ Principal of the Sultan Abubakar College , Sokoto and that person confirmed that the testimonial of His Excellency, Deputy Governor of Kebbi State was properly issued.
“He also identified His Excellency mocks examination result and confirming that His Excellency duly registered and he also tendered broad results sheet of those that sat for mocks examination”, he said.
Eleja said that since the commencement of the tribunal,they, counsel to the 3rd Respondents were not worry since they have the opportunity to cross examined the witnesses before the Court.
