Kebbi state governor Dr. Nasir Idris has joined other international and Nigerian leaders in celebrating with former Head of State, General Abubakar Abdulsalam as he clocked 83rd year.
Idris, in a congratulatory message, signed by his special adviser on communication and strategy,Abdullahi Idris Zuru, Governor Idris described the former military head of state as a globally recognized and exceptionally respected champion of democracy in a hitherto volatile African country.
He explained that General Abdusalam resisted several unsuccessful threats and blackmail from within and outside the country, and peacefully handed over the country to a democratic governance.
” it is this your patriotic and selfless sacrifice that resulted to an uninterrupted 26 years of productive democratic governance”.
He added that it was General Abdusalam’s uncommon doggedness which was unlike of military leaders that strengthen the pride of Nigeria in commity of nations which resulted to his consideration for international and sub-reginal assignments across the globe.
While praying for longevity and sound health and Allah’s continuous guidance and blessings to General Abdusalam, Governor Idris advised the Nigerian Armed forces and indeed in the sub-Saharan, not only celebrate the consequencial Nigerian democratic hero, but also emulate his record of selflessness service and promotion of democracy.
Idris added that General Abdusalam’s birthday anniversary which coincided with the Nigeria’s celebrations of Democracy day, would be a blessing to the nation’s democratic development.
