The Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris, has promised to construct a Para Soccer stadium in Birnin Kebbi to boost the game and give people with disability a sense of belonging.
The governor made the disclosure while speaking as the Special Guest at the final of Para Soccer Competition held in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital.
Idris observed that the stadium, when completed, would not only boost the morale of those living with disability but it would also serve as an avenue for fishing out talents among them for both national and international competitions.
He encouraged the players to dedicate their time and energy to the game towards earning a living, adding that the game if properly harnessed would change the players’ lives for the better.
The governor, who was highly elated with the level of tactical display in the final game, encouraged them to consider the game as recreational and business.
In his speech, the Chairman of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in Kebbi State, Alhaji Abubakar Chika-Ladan appreciated the governor for his consideration and support to sports especially para soccer.
Ladan appealed to the governor to sustain the support for sporting activities in the state.
The final game between Birnin Kebbi and Jega ended up 3:0 in favour of Birnin Kebbi.
