Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris has kicked off the distribution of over N7 billion farm inputs to over 48,000 farmers in the state.
Idris stated this during the distribution of fertiliser and farm input to farmers held at the premises of the Kebbi State Agricultural and Rural Development Agency, (KARDA), Kalgo town,Kalgo Local Government Area of the state.
According to him,this implementation of Kaura Cares programme is not only timely but also essential. The programmes under my administration had witnessed 300 % growth in the size of the results as independent verified by the World Bank.
“This result bears the testament to the result of utilization of resources for the programme. It was not a surprise to us that our state was ranked the 5th in the Country and I have no doubt that at the end of this circle,when our result are check again, we would be the number 1 in the Country.
“It is worthy of mention that under the components of the programme we are launching today,we would be reaching out to over 48,000 farmers with free agriculture inputs so that they could maintain food production and food security.
“We are doing this intervention in fulfilment of our campaign promises to the citizens of our State. Under my Administration, no farmers will be left behind. I recognize that we have comparative advantage in agriculture and everything will be done to ensure that we give it a right position it’s deserved.
“In this first round, the implementation of the inputs,we gave earmarked the sun of over N4 billion to be distributed to farmers in terms of Agriculture inputs and services. Similarly,we would distribute agriculture assets worth over N3 billion to our dedicated farmers to boost their agriculture production,so that the farmers yieks could be mutipliedi and we shall have transformation of food Zain”.

Idris disclosed that, under the Cares Programme, the government will also procure 100 truckload of fertiliser for distribution to farmers, Kebbi State Government will similarly distribute 100 truckload while Local Government Councils combined, will distribute 110 truckload of the commodity free to farmers.
” We distributed likewise last year that facilitated bumper harvest in Kebbi State, farmers must continue to use the items judiciously”,
“Nobody should be seen in the market selling government provided fertiliser, our security agencies have been mandated to keep surveillance, arrest and prosecute all violators of the order”, the Governor warned.
In a remark, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Abba Sani Kalgo, announced that the Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus which distributed the farm input, has been renamed, Nigeria Community Action Resilience Economic Stimulus Programme and the lifespan extended to the 31st December, 2024, to address the plight of the people.
“Under the Livelihood Intervention Scheme, 47,000 people will receive N100, 000 each for entrepreneurship and self sustenance”, Dr. Kalgo added.
Items distributed to farmers this Tuesday include Urea Fertiliser, improved seeds, pesticides and herbicides.
