From Olanrewaju Lawal, Birnin Kebbi
The Kebbi government has empowered 100 unemployed youths from 21 Local Government Areas of the state with vocational training and starter packs to enable them to become self-reliant and employers of labour.
State Governor Dr. Nasir Idris, while distributing the starter packs to the beneficiaries in Birnin Kebbi at the closing ceremony and presentation of starter packs to the participants of automobile AC repairs, reinstated his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment.
The training was organised by Eurowells Limited and the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) in collaboration with the office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Enlightenment and Orientation.
While addressing the participants, Idris, represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Yakubu Bala-Tafida, said: “My administration will continue to provide veritable platforms for youths to be gainfully employed.
“This is in line with our drive to make them productive and self-reliant members of society,” the governor said.
He commended the organisers of the programme for their foresight and assured them of sustained government support towards youth empowerment initiatives.
In his remark, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Enlightenment and Orientation, Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar-Jombali, said the 12-day training programme was aimed at preparing the beneficiaries to be self-reliant and potential employers of labour.

Earlier, the Director of Services, Eurowells Limited, Mr. Jercy Kpogho-Numa, said the initiative was part of the company’s commitment to equipping Nigerian youths with the necessary competencies and tools to excel in the industry.
He expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) for partnering with the company and providing funding and resources that made the training possible.
“We are thrilled by the dedication and focus shown by the Kebbi participants throughout the programme,” he said.
Kpogho-Numa also commended the state government, particularly the office of the Special Assistant to Gov. Idris on Public Enlightenment and Orientation, for their unwavering support, as well as the training facilitators for their impactful contribution.
