Kebbi Nursing Association rejoices with the new Emir

Kebbi State Governor Dr Nasir Idris has approved the appointment of Alhaji Sanusi Mika’ilu Sami as the new Emir of Zuru.
The state government, while presenting the letter to the new Emir on Thursday, August 28, in Zuru, through the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Garba Umar Dutsin-Mari, said that the appointment was based on the recommendation of the election committee.
He explained that out of the three candidates who applied for the position and were screened by the Zuru Emirate Emirship Election Committee, Alhaji Sanusi Mika’ilu Sami got the highest votes to clinch the throne.
The commissioner said the appointment of the new Emir was due to the demise of His Royal Highness, the late Emir of Zuru, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Sami Gomo II, who passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at a London hospital.
Dutsin-Mari thanked the Kebbi State Governor for approving the appointment of the new Emir and urged the new royal father to justify the confidence reposed in him.
He advised the new monarch to discharge his responsibilities diligently with the fear of God Almighty.
Meanwhile, the Kebbi State chapter of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) commended Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris, for the appointment of Alhaji Sanusi Mika’ilu Sami as the new Emir of Zuru.
The chairman of the association in the state, Comrade Kelani Abdulwaliyu, said that they received the news of his appointment with joy.

He said: “We need to celebrate him because he is one of us; he was a hard-working and humble nurse before he retired. So we were not surprised that he was appointed as the new Emir of Zuru, given his humility and love for his people, as he is domiciled in ancient Zuru town attending to his people.”
The association also commended Governor Idris for following the choice of the masses, which was demonstrated during the election process by the kingmakers of Zuru Emirate, where he won with a wide margin of seven votes out of nine votes cast.
He added that the decision of the governor to appoint him as the new Emir, following his victory at the kingmakers’ election, indicated that the governor is with the masses of Zuru who have demonstrated their raw love for the new Emir of Zuru.
“We particularly thank the governor for standing with the will of Allah and the people. We are deeply grateful to him,” he said.
Nurse Kelani also congratulated the people of Zuru Emirate, saying that with the appointment of Sanusi as the Emir of Zuru, they will certainly not regret having him as their royal father.
Kebbi State Governor Dr Nasir Idris, on Thursday, August 28, appointed Alhaji Sanusi Mika’ilu Sami Gomo III as the new Emir of Zuru following the death of the late Emir, Muhammad Sani Sami Gomo II.
His letter of appointment was presented to him at Zuru town by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Abubakar Dutsin-Mari.
