The Christians Association of Nigeria (CAN) Kebbi State chapter have expressed their excitement as Government allocated three hectares of land to the Association of Birnin Kebbi branch for the cemetery.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Land, Housing and Urban Development,TPL Abubakar Ahmad confirmed the allocation during the official handing over of the grant letter to the State Chairman of CAN, Rev.Ayuba Kanta at the Ministry headquarters, Birnin Kebbi.

According to him, “I have been directed to covey the approval of His Excellency,the Executive Governor of Kebbi State,on the land which he promised to give you during the CAN convention held in Birnin Kebbi.

“The Governor had promised that he would allocate land for you for the purpose of cemetery in Birnin Kebbi here in Kebbi state. In fulfilment of the promise, His Excellency,Dr. Nasir Idris has directed me to present the letter of grant signifying the allocation of three hectares of land for the purpose of cemetery to the CAN , Birnin Kebbi branch. That is the essence of been here”, he said.

While reacting to the gesture, the Kebbi State Chairman of CAN,Rev. Ayuba Kanta,commended the state Governor for his courageous and gesture to approve land for the Christian cemetery which previous administration did not approved.

He said: ” It has not been so good like this and this gesture is highly commendable and I would say like other people used to say that you have made my day,not only my day,but my year.

“We are very grateful,it is our sincere prayers that God Almighty who gave you the courage,the strength to be just,and fair, and to do what he used to do would continue to be with you. He is a Governor who always fulfil his promises. We knew his antecedent when he was a labour leader and whenever he made a promise,he always fulfilled it.

‘And he has done it again. We cannot thank him enough but we can assure him of our prayers,goodwill, by saying whatever he request from God,God will grant him all his desires.

“We have had Governor’s before him and all of them aware of this challenge. But the Bible says, there is time for everything and God has made it possible today. We are giving glory to God”, he added

Kanta commended the Permanent Secretary,all the directors at the Ministry who worked harder to ensure the land allocations came to a reality..
