Kebbi Governor’s Wife warns perpetrators of Gender Based Violence to desist

Wife of Kebbi State Governor, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, has, led an awareness campaign road walk against Gender Based Violence with strong warning to perpetrators of the act to desist forthwith.

The road walk took off from the AbdULLAHI Fodio Palace, Birnin Kebbi and terminated at the Presidential Lodge, attended by both genders.

Hajiya Zainab paid homage to the Emir of Gwandu Alhaji Mohammad Illiyasu Bashar to seek for Royal blessings where she was received by the representative of the Emir, Bunun Gwandu Alhaji Ibrahim S. Kudu.

Addressing the people at the Presidential Lodge, the wife of the governor, requested the entire women to spread the message against gender based violence to all nooks and corners of the state to stop the trend.

She expressed unhappiness about reported cases of rape of small girls and adult women, saying that it is a big war that required collective action to eliminate such devilish behaviour not only in Kebbi State but also in Nigeria nationwide.

Hajiya Zainab made it clear that all religions abhor gender based violence with emphasis on rape, citing the Prescriptions of Islam which elevated the status of women as epitome of chastity.

The Governor ‘s wife reminded women about their peculiar position as mothers and cradle of moral upbringing of children, warning that they must assist their husbands in disciplinary matters affecting children without shielding them from necessary reprimand whenever they erred.

She welcomed the theme of this year’s lecture; “Unite! Invest To Prevent Violence Against Women And Girls”, and commended those who presented papers classifying the role of woman as mother, daughter, elders or younger sister, wife and judge.

The wife of the Governor appointed the Sarkin Kabin Jega as an ambassador to take the message to traditional institutions in the state to give it efficacy.

She commended NAPTIP and other Security Agencies for striving to stop the human trafficking of boys and girls, urging the public to expose perpetrators of the crime.

In a remark, the wife of the Deputy Governor, Hajiya Maryam Tafida commended Hajiya Nasare and the incumbent administration of her husband for assisting women to uplift their condition of living.

On her part, the wife of the Secretary to the Government, SSG, Hajiya Asma’u Alkali Yakubu Tafida, advised husbands to regard their wives as trustworthy companions while women should refrain from molesting their husbands or being disrespectful but remain loyal and caring to their husbands.
