The Kebbi State government has denied allegations of inadequate distribution of Ramadan fast palliatives, labelling them a “stage-managed drama” by opposition groups.

A viral video showed a man, later identified as a psychiatric patient, claiming to have received one mudu of rice and maize as his share from the Dandi Local Government Education Authority’s allocation. The allocation was said to have been intended for a staff member who was suspended for rejecting palliatives, according to the video.

The Special Adviser to the Kebbi State Governor on Communication and Strategy, Alhaji Abdullahi Idris Zuru, while addressing the issue in a statement made available to newsmen, explained that the teacher in question has been identified as a mentally deranged person.

According to him,

“Investigations found that the man was a certified lunatic manipulated by desperate politicians to discredit the widely applauded support from Comrade Governor Idris.

“The government notes that as at the time the stage-managed drama was orchestrated, the Dandi local government’s allocation had not reached the local government headquarters and the entire procured grains did not include maize but only rice and millet as claimed by the lunatic.

“However, the state government is not unaware of how the distribution of the variety of the grains at the appropriate time by Comrade Governor Nasir Idris and widely applauded by beneficiaries further devastated the hope of the opposition in 2027.

“Besides, the latest orchestrated campaign of calumny against Governor Nasir was among a series of such failed attempts started a year ago.

“It all started with a stage-managed armed thuggery attack on some desperate politicians in Birnin Kebbi, preemptive and senseless exaggeration of armed banditry attacks in Tadurga village and consistent use of drug-addicted youths and prostitutes in foolishly discrediting, through the social media, the visibly and qualitatively executed socio-economic development and projects.

“It should however be understood that no amount of blackmail, fabrication of falsehood and mischievous campaign of calumny can change the mindset of the people of Kebbi State on the capacity and political sagacity of Comrade Governor Nasir Idris’s return in 2027, based on his demonstrated commitment to peaceful coexistence and sustainable socio-economic development of the state,” he said.
