Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris has signed into law  the N642.9 billion appropriation bill for the 2026 fiscal year.

It could be recalled that the Governor presented a proposed budget for 2026 fiscal year before the House of Assembly in November 27,2025 which he tagged ” budget of transformations and People’s Empowerment ‘.

The Governor had proposed the sum of N479.35,594.27 for capital expenditure and  N163,573,314,116.82 for the recurrent expenditure.

While signing the appropriate bill passed by the Lawmakers at Government House, Birnin Kebbi, Governor Idris thanked the speaker and the legislators for the swift passage of the budget.

According to him, “I am the happiest person that this government truly belongs to the people of the state. Whatever we do, it is done in the best interest of the people. We are working harmoniously with the State House of Assembly to move the state forward and take it to greater heights, in line with our people‑oriented governance.”

Idris also said that there was  need to increase internally generated revenue (IGR), noting that federal allocations alone would not suffice.

“People should understand that the budget is not money already in hand; rather, it is a projection of expected revenue, either from IGR or federal allocations,” he explained.

The Speaker of the House, Muhammad‑Zuru  reaffirmed the legislature’s commitment to sustained cooperation with the executive, stressed that, they would remain dedicated to working together to accelerate development for the benefit of our citizens.
