A stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kebbi State, Alhaji Lawali DanMallam Dakingari, a nephew to former Governor, Alhaji Sa’idu Nasamu Dakingari, has formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) after 27 years in the main opposition party.
Dakingari, who decamped along with thousands of supporters from all the 21 local government areas of the state, was presented to Governor Nasir Idris by the Kebbi APC Chairman, Abubakar Muhammad Kana Zuru, at the Government House, on Tuesday.
While speaking at the reception, Dakingari explained that his uncle, former Governor of the State, Alhaji Sa’idu Nasamu Dakingari, facilitated their entry into the APC to strengthen unity in the state and accelerate its growth and development.
He said, “My uncle rang me thrice to entice me to join the popular ruling party, which I accepted and mobilised my supporters from all over Kebbi, hitherto, in the ADC and PDP.
“We are here with sincerity, to decamp to the APC without any condition, we are enchanted by your style of purposeful leadership of uplifting the wellbeing of the people, rapid development of Kebbi, compassion and benevolence”,
“Your Excellency, our mission is to reinforce the unity of the state, security and forge ahead. We are glad you accepted us wholeheartedly,” Lawali remarked.
Presenting the former PDP bigwig to the Governor, Kebbi APC Chairman, Kana Zuru, said the party was happy to receive him and his teeming supporters into its fold.
“All of you are now bona fide members of the APC, enjoying rights and privileges like old members. We encourage you to collect forms for e-registration of the party, which closes in four days,” Kana said.
In his remark, Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris, described the action of Lawali Dakingari as God-ordained.
“Lawali is not a stranger to Kebbi politics. You have supporters in all nooks and crannies of the state. I’ve accepted you and your people as full members of the APC. We shall operate as one family.
“You now found it worthwhile to join the ruling party in recognition of the giant strides of my administration to develop Kebbi. Your entry into the APC strengthens cohesion and unity of our people.
“We’ve worked together with your uncle, former Governor Sa’idu Dakingari, to hasten the development of our dear state. I shall continue to strive to uplift the general welfare and cater for the well-being of Kebbi people within an environment of economic prosperity.”
