The Kebbi State Deputy Governor, Umar Abubakar, has charged the Commissioners in the state to work in cohesive, harmony in the course of discharging their duties.
Abubakar, who stated this while addressing the new Commissioners at a retreat held in Abuja, noted that they should work in harmony and be cohesive in the discharge of their responsibilities.
It could be recalled that the Executive Council members were in Abuja for a three-day retreat which was designed to acquaint them with their responsibilities for the development of the state.
Commissioner for Information and Culture Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi who confirmed this in a statement made available to newsmen stated that the retreat was designed to prepare the new Commissioner ahead of the task before them.
According to him, “The retreat which just began at the Royal Continental Hotel in Abuja is also aimed at preparing the Commissioners in the task of governance in line with the policy objectives and the desire of Governor Nasir Idris to reposition the state.
“It is also expected to prepare the Commissioners on the workings of democratic government in relation to the need for the state to quicken the process of its growth in the next four years.”
The commissioner disclosed that Governor Dr Nasir Idris was represented by Deputy Governor Umar Abubakar Argungu at the retreat.
He quoted the Deputy Governor in his speech to have said that there was a need for the members to learn to work together in order to achieve the common objectives of developing the state.
“He appealed to the members of the executive council, to be attentive and be a resource to work in harmony and be cohesive in the discharge of their responsibilities”.
He also stated that the Secretary to the State Government(SSG), Alhaji Yakubu Bala, in his welcome address, stated that the event was arranged to put members through the art of governance so that they can synergise and work for the betterment of the state.
“At the end of the retreat which ends on Saturday, the 16th of September, 2023, the Commissioners are expected to be knowledgeable and versatile in their operational guidelines as members of the State Executive Council”, Birnin Kebbi said.
He added that the resource persons include Professor Sanusi Ahmad Birnin Kebbi, the lead consultant backed by Professors ML Ahmadu who is the pioneer Vice Chancellor of Rayhaan University Birnin Kebbi and Yahaya T Baba, among others.
