The Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ahmed Mogaji Kontagora has joined patrol team to prevent infiltration of bandits as well deployed additional personnel on ground at some flashy areas.
Spokesman of the Kebbi State Police Command, SP Nafiu Abubakar confirmed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Birnin kebbi.
According to him, “sequel to the reported invasion of Zagi Village in Augie LGA of Kebbi State, a border community with Silame LGA of Sokoto State by suspected bandits on the 18th August 2022, at about 0205hrs, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State command, CP Ahmed Magaji Kontagora and his Management Team had today Friday, 19th August, 2022, patrolled Zagi-Augie road for an on the spot assessment of the security situation in the area and personally supervised the deployment of tactical teams drafted to restore normalcy in the area.
“The giant efforts of the CP were also complemented by the Acting Commanding Officer, 1 Battalion, Nigerian Army, Dukku Barracks, Birnin Kebbi, Captain A. Ogah, who was also actively on ground during the patrol.
“Consequently, CP Ahmed Magaji Kontagora and his entourage further visited the internally displaced persons, who were temporarily sheltered at Augie Local Government Secretariat, where he assured the victims and residents of additional deployments of Police specialized teams in the area to prevent the ilfiltration of the bandits from our neighboring state.
“He further solicited the support of the community members to cooperate with the security personnel deployed in the area to ensure the territorial borders of the State are adequately secured”, he said.
