From Olanrewaju Lawal, Birnin Kebbi
Following a wide range of meetings and consultations with critical stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kebbi State, the pioneer members of the party have suspended all the leadership in the state.
The pioneer members of the new coalition opposition party, who converged at an emergency meeting held in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday, unanimously agreed to suspend some of the leadership of the ADC state working committee, including its Chairman, Engr. Bala Sufiyanu, Deputy Chairman Junaidu Muhammed Mudi, and Hawwa’u Muhammed, Secretary.
They were replaced with Abdulrazaq Abubakar Isah, who will serve as the interim Chairman of ADC Kebbi State, while Adamu Aliyu is the new secretary of the party.
While briefing newsmen, the state Publicity Secretary, Mallam Jamilu Muhammed, warned members of the public to desist from dealing with the suspended executives until further notice.
According to him, the aforementioned suspended leaders lack the moral consciousness, transparency, accountability, and trust to preside over the affairs of the party.
He accused them of diverting from the principles and objectives of the party, stressing that they couldn’t apply wisdom and a technical approach to unite and position the party for glory and success.
“We were left with no option other than to suspend Engineer Bala Sufiyanu and his members for the underlisted reasons: they take unilateral decisions; they, on several occasions, carried out all official activities and tookenumerable critical decisions without consultations or input from other members of the executive committee.

“They are running poor leadership, and administrative inefficiency run by them has put the party in crisis and backward. He has been engaged in questionable use of funds without the knowledge of other executives and could not account for all the funds he has expended in the name of the party.”
Muhammed also said that the party rejected the selfish and illegitimate hijack of the party by Abuja politicians who are seeking to dominate the genuine members of the party in Kebbi State without recourse to due process and respect for the long-term sacrifices of the founding members.
“Therefore, after extraordinary meetings with critical genuine stakeholders of ADC Kebbi State, the decision came into being based on the following.
“The party also condemned and rejected the early campaign in the name of ADC engaged by some elements unknown to the party as it contradicts and is against the provisions of the law, particularly the Electoral Act. We therefore call on INEC and relevant security agencies to take necessary action.”
He added that the members of the party with valid cards are to work with the new interim leadership to move the party to greater heights, devoid of undue interference from impostors masquerading as leaders of the party.
Muhammed advised the suspended executives to stop parading themselves as executives of ADC in Kebbi State with immediate effect and to also stop engagements with any group in the name of ADC in Kebbi State.
