The police in Katsina have arrested a suspected serial shoplifter for allegedly stealing goods worth over N10 million from various shops and malls in the state.
When the police searched her house, they recovered sundry items, including 274 pairs of shoes, 24 bottles of perfume, a sack of assorted seasoning cubes and spices, and 67 sets of sportswear, among others—enough to start her own shop.
A statement on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, explained that the suspect, identified as “Hadiza Ibrahim”, was captured on CCTV footage at Green House Katsina, where she was seen dishonestly stealing various items from a shop.
“Analysing the CCTV footage, the suspect was closely monitored, leading to her arrest at the scene.

“Upon arrest, a search was conducted at the residence of the suspect, and items valued at ₦10,102,000.00 were recovered.
“The recovered items have been identified by their rightful owners, as more victims (shop owners) were identified.
“Investigations revealed that the suspect has a history of shoplifting and theft, as she confessed to the commission of the offence. The suspect has been charged to court for diligent prosecution.
“The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, while commending the operatives for a job well done, also advises shop owners to be vigilant and take necessary precautions to secure their businesses against such criminals.”
