The police in Katsina have arrested four persons over possession of illicit drugs.

The suspects are aged between 23 and 35 years, according to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, in a statement on Sunday.

The statement said, “On May 16th, 2025, at about 1400 hours, based on credible intelligence, the Command succeeded in arresting four suspected drug traffickers in possession of illicit drugs, all of Sabuwar Unguwa in Katsina metropolis.

“They were arrested at Kofar Guga garage while attempting to smuggle some illicit drugs to Maradi in the neighbouring Niger Republic.

“Upon instant search, 5,000 pieces of Exol tablets and 430 pieces of Tramadol tablets were recovered in the suspects’ possession.

“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the commission of the offence and further revealed to have gotten the exhibits from a supplier simply identified as Abba of FCT Abuja, who is currently at large. “Efforts are being intensified to ensure the arrest of the supplier and bring him to justice.

“The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Bello Shehu, commends the operatives for a job well done and reaffirms the Command’s commitment towards combating drug-related offences in the state as well as all other forms of crime and criminality.

“Furthermore, he called on members of the public to support the crime-fighting efforts of the command by promptly reporting suspicious activities to the command.”
