From Agaju Madugba, Katsina
Relief may have come to families of victims of bandits’ attacks in parts of Katsina State as the government, on Wednesday, approved the payment of N2,671,330,300 billion annually to a total of 13,315 beneficiaries.
The approval followed government’s adoption of recommendations of a committee earlier set up in 2020, to identify victims of banditry and other negative vices in the state.
Special Adviser on Higher Education to Governor Aminu Bello Masari, Bashir Usman Ruwan Godiya, who briefed the press on the outcome of the fifth regular State Executive Council meeting, said the amount would be used for the provision of food items, school uniforms and other clothing as well as education and to cater for other needs of widows and orphans left behind by the heads of their respective households killed by bandits across the state.
He said the government had already raised another committee to implement the recommendations.
