Several supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have reportedly sustained injuries after an alleged attack with stones and bottles along the route to the Tinubu–Dikko campaign flag-off in Funtua Zone, Katsina State, on Wednesday.
The affected supporters, who said they were travelling in the convoy of Governor Dikko Radda, alleged that groups of angry youths and hoodlums attacked them as they headed to the campaign venue.
The event was scheduled to feature the presentation of Radda’s Building Your Future scorecard, highlighting his administration’s achievements and ongoing projects.
Some of the victims told reporters that their mobile phones, clothes and other personal belongings were damaged during the incident. They also reported varying degrees of injuries among those attacked.
According to the victims, the assailants used machetes, knives, stones and bottles to assault them.
“We were simply on our way to attend the campaign flag-off when we encountered some angry youths who attacked us with stones and bottles. Many people were injured, and our property was destroyed. We cannot afford to replace what we lost,” one of the victims said.

The affected supporters appealed to security agencies and relevant authorities to investigate the incident and bring those responsible to justice.
Earlier, stones were reportedly seen scattered along the road at the Malumfashi town roundabout, which links the area to Bakori Local Government Area. Several vehicles were also said to have sustained windscreen damage, suggesting that disturbances may have occurred before the reported attack.
Despite the disruption, Radda proceeded with the presentation of his administration’s Building Your Future scorecard, outlining projects and achievements across key sectors since he assumed office.
The campaign is designed to take the administration’s performance record and development agenda to communities across Katsina State’s three senatorial zones: Funtua, Daura and Katsina.
The exercise covers all 34 local government areas and 361 wards ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities had not issued an official statement on the alleged attack.
