President Bola Tinubu met with Abia State Governor Alex Otti at the Presidential Villa in Abuja yesterday, amid efforts aimed at securing the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The meeting followed closely on the heels of Governor Otti’s recent visit to Kanu at a prison facility in Sokoto State, where the IPOB leader is currently serving his sentence.

Otti at the Sokoto prison, was accompanied by Nnamdi Kanu’s younger brother, Emmanuel Kanu; Abia State’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Ikechukwu Uwanna and his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma and representatives from the Sokoto State Government.

Earlier, Otti had highlighted that his administration was working on a concerted plan to ensure Kanu’s release, emphasizing that this issue remains a top priority for Abia State.

“While Mazi Nnamdi Kanu retains the right to appeal his conviction, I want to assure that I have activated and will persist with the agreed strategy until his freedom is achieved,” Otti stated via his media team.

The discussion with President Tinubu is viewed as a continuation of Otti’s efforts to seek a political and legal solution regarding Kanu’s detention.
