Family sources in Katsina State could not disclose the cause of the death of late Sen. Mahmud Kanti Bello, who passed on in his Abuja residence in the early hours of Tuesday.
“All I can tell you is that Sen. Kanti Bello died at about 4:00a.m earlier this morning,” Sadauki Bello, the deceased younger brother told our correspondent in Katsina, adding that “he was down with an ailment for a long time.”
Born on January 14, 1945, Kanti Bello represented the Daura Senatorial District at the National Assembly between 2003 and 2007, under the People’s Democratic Party but later defected to the All Progressives Congress before his demise.
Educated at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Bello was the pioneer Managing Director of the Katsina Steel Rolling Mill.
