Kano: Three killed in petrol tanker explosion

Three people have lost their lives in a petrol tanker explosion in Kano.

A statement released by the Public Relations Officer of the Kano Fire Service, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, on Saturday, noted that a motorcyclist involved in the incident managed to escape with his life.

According to Sunday Sun, the explosion occurred at about 1:30 pm on Friday on Zaria Road by Kura Market Junction, in Kura LGA of the state, and involved a lone tanker with registration number NGZ 35250 XA.

The statement indicated that the tanker was carrying approximately 30,000 litres of petroleum products at the time of the incident.

“Our personnel, in collaboration with the police and Road Safety officials, carried out the rescue operation successfully, and the victims were handed over to ASP Ahmad Lawan of Kura Police Division,” it stated.

It further noted that the actual cause of the accident remains under investigation, while urging motorists to drive with care and observe traffic regulations at all times.
