From Desmond Mgboh, Kano
Kano state Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf has pledged to provide quality healthcare services to the people of the state.
Yusuf, who made the promise while re-commissioning the rHasiya Pediatric hospital, on Sunday, affirmed that his attention would positively affect the areas of free maternal and pediatric healthcare services in the state.
He alleged that the hospital was sold by the previous administration which also resulted in loss of equipment to thieves and vandals adding that the situation created unnecessary hardship and undermined access to pediatric healthcare services in the state.
He stated that his administration has recovered, renovated, and provided state-of-the-art equipment and other needed infrastructure for the smooth operation of the hospital.
He expressed optimism that the facility will reduce the high rate of neo-natal, infant morbidity and mortality and will reduce the burden of medical and surgical healthcare challenges bedeviling the state.
The Governor expressed appreciation to the Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, including the members of his Emirate Council for finding time to visit the hospital, which was named after the grandmother of the monarch, Mai Baban Daki of blessed memory.
Earlier, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero urged members of the general public to make judicious use of the facility, and called on parents to allow their children participate in immunization exercise.
