Kano Police smash syndicate of fake officers, arrest five suspects

The Police in Kano have smashed a syndicate of fake police officers, arresting five members of the notorious gang

A statement issued Saturday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa said that they were nabbed while parading themselves as officers on October 16th, 2025.

Those arrested , said the statement are Aliyu Abbas aged 35, Sani Iliyasu agaed 47, Ashiru Sule aged 41, Abubakar Yahaya aged 45 and Adamu Kalilu aged 45.

“The suspects were found in possession of several incriminating items, including a fake police warrant card, handcuffs, two Thousand Five Hundred (2,500) in CFA, mutilated Naira notes of different denominations, and their operational vehicle, a blue peugeot 406 with registration number NSR-188-BD” said the statement.

“During the investigation, the suspects confessed to engaging in a series of impersonations, admitting to using the fake police warrant card to extort innocent citizens and commit other nefarious activities in Kano, Katsina, and Kaduna States” said the statement.

The suspects would be charged to court upon completion of the investigation, said the statement.
