Kano police revive ban on commercial motorcyclists

Kano State Police Command has revived the ban on commercial motorcycle operation in the metropolis of the state.

The Police have also restricted the operation of commercial tricyclists from 10pm to 6am daily.

A statement yedterday,  Kano State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO)Abdullahi Kiyawa, said  that the laws providing for these bans as earlier  announced by the Kano State Government, is  still in full force and operational across the affected LGs.

The statement listed the affected LGs to include: Kano, Municipal, Gwale, Dala, Fagge, Nassarawa, Tarauni, Kumbotso. Ungogo (Jido Area)  and Dawakin Kudu, (Tambuwal, Gurjiya and Jido Ward) LGA.

“The enforcement team is empowered to effectively profile individuals that flagrantly defy the ban and restriction, and help to curb spread of unverified and misleading information that could instill fear and confusion among the public, the statement held.

“The Command wishes to remind the public, particularly operators of motorcycles and commercial tricycles, that these measures are designed to enhance public safety and security across the State.

“Any person found operating motorcycles or tricycles in contravention of the ban or restriction will be promptly arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law” the statement added

The police, therefore,urged  residents of the state to comply with these regulations and extend their cooperation to the law enforcement agencies in ensuring peace and order in the State.

They additionally  encouraged the public to report any violations or suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
