The police in Kano have arrested a suspect who stole a Toyota Hilux vehicle belonging to the Deputy Governor of the state, Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo.

The car thief, according to reports, accessed the Government House through its Gate 4 and sneaked away with the stolen vehicle through the Main Gate.

A statement signed on Wednesday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Ibrahim Shiabu Gwarzo, held that the police have also successfully recovered the stolen Toyota Hilux vehicle.

The statement added that the vehicle was traced and recovered in the early hours of Wednesday by security operatives involved in the recovery.

“A suspect, who serves as a permanent and pensionable driver, has been arrested in connection with the theft and is currently assisting the police in their ongoing investigation,” the statement announced.

The statement described the theft as a clear breach of trust by the arrested driver and commended the prompt response by the police and other security agencies involved in the investigation.

“The general public is hereby advised to remain calm and be rest assured that the security of lives and property remains a priority of the Kano State Government, both within and outside the Government House,” the statement added.
