The Chairman of the Kano State Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bello Gambo Bichi, has accepted the dissolution of the committee by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.
The PDP NWC had directed the immediate dissolution of the Kano State Working Committee with effect from Thursday, September 24, 2026.
Reacting to the development, Bichi said he supported the dissolution, explaining that it was one of the conditions reportedly given by the party’s immediate past governorship candidate, Bello Dalha, for stepping down from the race in favour of Muhammad Sani Abacha.
He explained that during consultations leading to the replacement of the governorship candidate, Dalha had set a number of conditions, including the dissolution of the State Working Committee.

Bichi described his acceptance of the dissolution as a sacrifice worth making in the interest of reconciliation and efforts to unite the party ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
“When we agreed to reconcile the different factions of the PDP in the state and to bring in Muhammad Sani Abacha as our governorship candidate, we believed that Abacha could be a stronger flag bearer.
“During this engagement, the former candidate requested the dissolution of the State Working Committee of the party, which I fully endorsed,” he stated.
The development followed the party’s announcement, a week earlier, of Muhammad Sani Abacha as its governorship candidate for the 2027 election, with Yusuf Ado Kibiya as his running mate.
Bichi’s acceptance of the dissolution is expected to form part of the ongoing reconciliation efforts aimed at resolving internal differences within the Kano PDP ahead of the election.
