A Kano State Government panel has cleared St. Louis Secondary School of any wrongdoing in the death of a female student, and concluded that she died of natural causes.
The committee submitted its final report to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Umar Faruk Ibrahim.
Presenting the findings, the panel’s Co-Chairman and Executive Secretary of the Private and Voluntary Institutions Management Board, Baba Abubakar Umar, stated that the investigation examined the school’s dormitory, clinic, recreational facilities, and the circumstances surrounding the student’s sudden collapse. He explained that school authorities immediately alerted the student’s parents and sought prompt medical assistance.

The student was evaluated first by clinic staff and subsequently by a medical professional, who was a relative of the family. Both assessments confirmed natural causes.
“The committee found no evidence of abuse, beating, corporal punishment, mistreatment, or any form of physical harm. Available medical evidence does not indicate that her death was caused by any negligence or wrongdoing on the part of the school,” Umar stated.
Receiving the report, the SSG expressed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for fortitude. He commended the panel for conducting a thorough and objective investigation aimed at establishing the truth and maintaining public confidence. He reiterated the state government’s resolve to safeguard the welfare and dignity of students across all schools in Kano State through continuous oversight and transparent governance.
