Kano State Government has expressed concern over reports by some media outlets of alleged widespread and violent demonstrations in some parts of the state regarding the recent abrogation of four emirates and the reinstatement of Muhammadu Sanusi 11
A statement signed by the Commissioner of Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye on Monday said that these reports were sensational and grossly exaggerated and intended to undermine the state.
He added that some political actors were manipulating the situation to create chaos and unrest adding that these elements were using the media to spread false narratives and incite public disorder, while noting that their actions and those of their agents were not representative of the genuine feelings of the citizens of Kano State, but were instead driven by selfish ulterior motives.
“Contrary to media reports, there has been no widespread violent protest in Kano State. While the government is aware of isolated incidents in few areas by a handful of small children and hired miscreants and thugs, these do not in any way reflect the overall situation.
“These hired unpatriotic individuals were only aiming to destabilize the state for the personal gain and selfish interests of their paymasters. The great majority of Kano State citizens have shown remarkable restraint and understanding of the sincere action of the state government.
“In view of the current tense situation in the state, there is a need to allay the fears of the public following these reports as well as assure the public that government was committed to ensuring to protect their lives and property” he stated
Dantiye maintained that the administration remained steadfast in its commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the state adding that the administration would not renege in its responsibility to ensure that law and order were upheld and the rights of citizens were protected.
The general public is, therefore, urged to disregard these sensational and grossly exaggerated media reports and support the efforts of the administration to create a more cohesive and unified state .
He called on the media to exercise responsible journalism and verify facts before publishing any report that has the potential to cause unnecessary tension. End.
Kano State Government has apologized to the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, for accusing him of smuggling the deposed Emir of Kano, Aminu into the state.
Deputy Governor of the state, Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo disclosed this on Monday during a press conference at the Government House. Where he expressed deep regrets for the embarrassment and incontinence they had caused him and his office.
He said that they were mislead into believing that he was behind the provision of the aircraft abd the huge security that led him to the state adding that they had forcefully realized that he was not behind the action.
He said that knowing his integrity, his steadfastness, if he had hand in it , he would have come forward to say so and would not deny the act if he had anything to do with it.
The Deputy Governor assured that the National Security Adviser that the Kano State Government would continue to continue to cooperate with him in his discharge of his duties as the National Security Adviser while appealing to again appealing to him to take notice of the happenings in the state ,
He also appealed to President Bola Tinubu, the National Security Adviser and any other relevant authority to investigate the happenings in the state and take steps to ensure the protection of peace and security in the state.
“The tensed political situation in the state artificairy and deliberately created and everybody knows those who are behind it” he stated
“We are appealing to the President to call those who are behind it to order so that peace would reign in the state”
He appealed to the President and the security authorities to evacuate the deposed Emir from the state, noting that his presence in the state, was constituting a major security threat.
He added that the deposed Emir was being llodged at a quarters in Nassarawa area of the metropolis, which is just a few meters to the residence of the Governor of the state.
“As we are talking, the All Progressives Congress thugs are planning to cause mayhem in the state” he declared while accusing the All Progressives Congress (APC) of being behind the fresh wave of tension in the state.
The Deputy Governor admitted that in the interim, a lot of activities are being exploited to get the president to understand the situation as it is Kano at the moment adding that they are doing everything to prevent bloodshed in Kano. End
