Kano State government has accused the immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of intending to establish an illegal religious police outfit in the state.
Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya disclosed this Friday night, during a briefing on the outcomes of the Kano State Executive Council meeting.
He maintained that former Governor Ganduje had concluded plans to recruit 12, 000 individuals under a proposed religious police outfit known as Khairui Nas, while expressing fears that the ptoposed group was capable of undermining the peace and security of the state.
Waiya also noted that the state government was offended by the recent comments of the former governor and that of the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin. over the security situation in the state.
” The Council deliberated extensively over the recent inflammatory statement made by the former governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and the Deputy Senate President. Barau I Jibrin, who alleged that the state is vulnerable to banditry” he stated.
” The Council noted that the utterances were inciting, reckless and capable of undermining the security efforts of the Kano State Government and that of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led administration” he said

The Commissioner observed that in less that 48 hours after their statements, some bandits had infiltrated some border communities in the state.
He remarked that the coincidence had raised grave concerns that their remarks might have been premeditated or could be linked to the assaults..
The Commissioner, on behalf of the state government, tasked the security agencies to investigate the statements of the former governor.
He also expressed the appreciation of the government to the Federal Government and security agencies over their support for the fight against insecurity in the state and urged public figures to desist from statements that could lead to unrest
He assured the citizens of the state government’s commitment to maintaining peace, law and order across the state.
