The Governor of Kano State Abba Kabir Yusuf has appealed to Nigerians not to politicize the present insecurity in the land, insisting that the present insecurity affects everyone regardless of his or her political affiliations.
Yusuf made the remarks at a special prayer session organised at the Kano Government House, which was organised to seek divine intervention against the incursion of armed banditry in the state.
A total of 4,444 Qur’an memorizers (Huffaz) recited the Quran and offered prayers for lasting peace in the state and the country.
The Governor maintained that insecurity must not be given political colorations while calling for unity of all in checking the menace.
“Insecurity does not know politics or party affiliations. This is why everyone, regardless of their leanings, must join hands to fight the monster of banditry. We want to see everybody working together to free Kano,” he said.

The Governor disclosed that he had equipped the security agencies with operational equipment to discharge the duty even as he said that he was in regular communication with them to address their needs promptly.
He assured residents that theb state government, in collaboration with security agencies, was working very hard to protect the state and its environs.
He described the mass prayer session as a significant spiritual effort adding that every well-meaning person should appreciate such initiatives.
The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II commended the state government infrastructural , noting that improved infrastructure in rural areas would greatly enhance security response.
“I have seen, while in Faruruwa Community in Shanono Local Government Area, that the government is constructing road networks in rural communities. This will make it easier for security operatives to respond swiftly to distress calls,” the Emir said.
