Kano State Government has issued an executive order directing the Emirates to continue to organise the famous Durbar festival in their respective emirates of Kano, Rano, Karaye and Gaya.
Speaking on Saturday at the first edition of the Kano Festival of Arts and Culture, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf said the order was in recognition of the significance of Durbar heritage to the socio- economic life of the state.
He noted that his administration and the 44 LGAs in the state would continue to preserve the unique traditional heritage while celebrating the republishing Kano’s Dubur as the World intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO.
He said that the flag off of the first edition of KANFEST would serve as a platform to celebrate the culture, history and creativity of th4 people of the state

Rwandan Ambassador to Nigeria, Christophe Bazivamo, who graced the occassion congratulated the state for restoring the important moments of history
“I wish to highlight that our culture, our traditions are a very strong foundation of whatever we can achieve” he said.
“Africa has had a very strong history. Africa has played a big role in our history, but slowly Africa has lost its scars” he said.
Sunday Sun reports that the festival featured scores of traditional and historical artifacts and displays, including the traditional dubur celebrations by hundreds of horses and their riders.
