Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on Saturday approved the appointment of a new political adviser, Mustapha Bakwana.

His appointment followed the resignation of the former Political Adviser, Sunusi Surajo Kwankwaso, who is directly linked to the leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

The new appointment was confirmed on Saturday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, in a post shared on his verified social media handle.

Sunusi Surajo Kwankwaso’s resignation came shortly after Governor Yusuf announced his defection from the New Nigeria Peoples Party on Friday. All the while, he has been accused by the Governor’s camp as one of those escalating the dispute between the Governor and Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Meanwhile, the newly appointed Political Adviser, Mustapha Bakwana, was a former Political Adviser to Kano’s former governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Sunday Sun reports that Bakwana had recently resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) a few months ago to join the NNPP under the Kwankwasiyya Political Movement.
