Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has appointed three second-class emirs as traditional rulers of the newly established Rano, Gaya, and Karaye Emirates of Kano.

A statement issued, yesterday, by the spokesperson of the governor,  Sanusi Tofa, stated that the appointments take immediate effect.

The new emirates were established by the governor on July 16, 2024, with Kano as the only first-class emirate.

The appointed emirs are Muhammad Karaye of Karaye, Muhammad Umar of Rano and Aliyu Abdulkadir of Gaya.

While the appointed emir of Gaya is re-appointed to the position he held under the old Kano Emirate Law, the appointed emirs of Rano and Karaye were previously district heads of Rogo and Bunkure districts

The governor congratulated the new appointees and charged them to promote culture, peace, and unity in their respective emirates.
