Kano Women Professionals League has commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, for appointing Hauwa Isa as the Acting Managing Director of Abubakar Rimi Television (ARTV)

Coordinator of the League, Salamatu Faruk Hassan, in a statement, yesterday, described the governor as a ‘fair and just leader,’ who listens to the plight of women and youths.

Hassan said: “For appointing Hajiya Hauwa Isa as acting MD, ARTV,
we must commend governor Abba gida-gida for keeping up with his campaign promise of women and youth inclusion in politics.

“Other times, we hardly get noticed for all our contributions and sacrifices during campaigns. Politicians just make promises, and after getting out votes, they shut the door on our face.

“But now, Gov Abba, has shown resilience and faithfulness in keeping to his words, for that we shall remain grateful for this honor done to us.”

Also, Secretary of the League, Zulaihat Tijjani Hashim, said:” The 36% affirmative action as mandated by the UN is realistic with this appointment.

“At least, Gov Abba Kabir Yusuf has navigated away from the ‘use and dump’ method, deployed by others.

“Hauwa is a seasoned administration and broadcaster whose experience will change the fortunes of ARTV for good and showcase Kano, and the Abba administration on the global stage”.

“Governor Abba has upheld gender equality, and respect for women, for that we thank him and wish him Allah’s protection”.

On her part, a youth activist, Mairo Bala implored the governor to formalise the appointment of Hauwa Isa, as substantive Managing Director, owing to her experience and dedication to work and upliftment of women and youths in the state. According to her, it would attract more women support to his administration.
