Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, Monday, announced the establishment of a new Ministry of Housing to strengthen the functioning of government in the state.
The Governor made the announcement during the swearing-in ceremony of a new Housing Commissioner. Ibrahim Yakubu, at the Government House.
Until his recent elevation, Yakubu was the Managing Director, Kano State Urban Planning and Development Agency.
Speaking, the Governor held that the new Commissioner was appointed on the strength of his merit adding that he had known him as a competent architect right from his days as a youth corps member in Abuja.
He urged the new Commissioner to use his expertise to address the housing needs of the low income earners, particularly the civil servants in the state.
He tasked him to help revive public interests in the three new estates of Kwankwansiyya, Amana and Bandorawa estates in the state.
