A broad coalition of stakeholders in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has expressed confidence that the nomination of Engr. Rabiu Suleiman Bichi as Deputy Governor will consolidate the party’s strength and cohesion ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The stakeholders made their position known over the weekend in a formal letter addressed to the state governor, which was signed by the immediate past APC Chairman in Kano, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, alongside other party leaders across the state.
In the letter, the group declared its “strong support” for Bichi’s nomination, describing him as a loyal party stalwart with a proven track record of service, integrity, and commitment to the ideals of the APC.
They noted that their endorsement was informed by Bichi’s “wealth of experience” and “untainted record of service,” emphasizing that he is not linked to any controversy that could undermine the party’s electoral prospects.
According to the stakeholders, Bichi’s emergence would play a critical role in strengthening the APC’s internal unity and positioning the party for greater success in future elections, particularly as preparations gradually build toward 2027.
“In view of the foregoing, we urge Your Excellency to give favourable consideration to his nomination in the overall interest of the party and the people of Kano State,” the statement read.
The endorsement, according to the letter, drew support from a wide spectrum of APC power blocs, including serving and former members of the House of Representatives, members of the Kano State House of Assembly, as well as former local government council chairmen.
Among the signatories were prominent political figures and lawmakers representing various constituencies across Kano, in addition to dozens of former council chairmen from key local government areas spanning the three senatorial districts.
The stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to the success of both the federal and Kano State governments, expressing optimism that Bichi’s nomination would further consolidate the APC’s strength, unity, and electoral advantage ahead of 2027.
