Aminu Ado Bayero has been barred from parading himself as Emir.
Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu of the Kano State High Court 17 gave the order on Monday.
The judge also restrained the deposed Emirs of the scrapped Emirates of Bichi, Gaya, Rano and Karaye from parading themselves as Emirs.
Justice Aliyu restrained the deposed Emirs either by themselves, servants, privies or any other persons appointed by them from parading themselves as Emirs of Kano, Bichi, Gaya, Rano, and Karaye.
Justice Aliyu’s order contradicts a June 20 order of a Federal High Court sitting in Kano which voided the reinstatement of Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II as the 16th Emir of Kano, a few weeks after the Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf restored him to the throne.
The Kano State Government had filed a suit asking the state high court to stop Bayero and four other Emirs of Karaye, Bichi, Rano and Gaya from parading themselves as Emirs.
The state government also sought the court’s nod for its 48-hour ultimatum issued to the deposed Emirs to vacate their respective palaces.
In Monday’s judgement, Justice Aliyu directed the five deposed Emirs to quickly hand over all the Emirate Traditional Royal Artifacts to the government and the substantive Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi ii.
On the eviction of deposed Emir Bayero from his Nassarawa palace, the judge said it was a Rent Tribunal matter that should not be before her court.
The court also gave backing to the legality of the Kano State Emirate Council Repeal Law 2024, saying it aligned with Section 4 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
