The Kano State Commission of Inquiry into political violence and missing persons from 2015 to 2023 has commenced sitting in the state capital.
Speaking at the inaugural sitting, the Chairperson of the panel, Justice Zuwaira Yusuf, explained that the essence of the commission is to find out the causes and factors that instigated political violence in the state during the period under review.
She invited individuals, groups, civil society organisations, non-governmental organisations (NGOS) as well as victims and relatives of the victims of political violence, and missing persons to submit memoranda/petition to the commission.
She assured the general public that the commission will look into their petitions, adding that, where necessary, they would be called upon to give oral evidence to back up their petitions.
She assured the public that the commission will discharge its assigned mandates diligently, truly, fairly, dispassionately and without fear or ill-will.
Members of commission included lbrahim Waiya, CP. Muhammad Wakili (retd), Amina Umar Garba, Kabiru Inuwa, and Salisu Muhammad Tahir, among others.
