The Kano State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has allocated a total of 60 per cent of the party’s leadership structure in the state to former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and his followers.

The power-sharing deal was reached at a recent stakeholders’ meeting in the state, where the structure of the party’s leadership was thoroughly discussed and agreed upon.

Confirming the arrangement, the Kano State Chairman of the ADC, Musa Ungogo, told Daily Sun that the former Kano State governor was allocated a total of sixty per cent of the incoming party leadership, while the remaining forty per cent was reserved for the legacy group and other political tendencies that recently joined the ADC in the state.

He clarified that no specific allocation was made to the former Deputy Governor, Nasiru Gawuna, but observed that Gawuna had aligned himself with Kwankwaso and would be well accommodated within that bloc.

He explained that the remaining 40 per cent is reserved for legacy party members and other political groups that recently joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), such as “members from the Labour Party, the PDP, some members of the All Progressives Congress that are defecting into the APC, and the SDP as well as those that were previously non-active in any political party”.

“One thing you can take home is that every group and every member is happy about the sharing formula. And secondly, all the positions that you will get from this congress today would be reached by consensus. There will be nothing to regret,” he said.

Musa explained that the membership of the party has been spreading like wildfire in the state, adding that new members were joining in large numbers from the ruling party, the PDP, including people who had been inactive in politics in recent times.

He described the defection of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to the ADC as a milestone for the party, while celebrating the rest of their leaders, both locally and nationally, as the pillars of the party’s recent surge in the state.
